Precisely right. The balance of power, which is right now shifting to the north, would be thrown straight back to the lazy protectionist can't be arsed to work lefties in Paris, with all the economic tulip that that entails; does Britain realy stand to gain from an EU in an even deeper economic mess? No. What many people in Britain refuse to understand is that the natural allies of Britain in Europe are 1. the Germans, 2. the Dutch and the Scandinavians. Get together with that lot and support them when they need it, especially when the Dutch finance minister wants to try and block the EU budget, as he tried a few weeks ago without the support of Britain (even UKIP didn't help him on this, and they lie that they're anti-Europe) and the EU will be reformed very very quickly. And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? ...or get together with the chief sponsor and the most talented players and turn it into a commercial team that storms the world and earns gazillions of pounds?Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostI see it like being a member of a golf club. Full of arcane practices and rules. I could get on the committee and push for change, or alternatively I could simply save myself the membership and pay green fees and not get involved.
A little like being a contractor

No, no, no. Not him. Angela Merkel is the one who can bring the whole show to an end; Herman van Rompuy is a walk-on extra. A bit like Nigel Farage really.Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostAnd what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014Comment

Did Mr Farage achieve anything substantial for the British public with this?Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostAnd what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014Comment

Then Mr Farage and his party should start turning up and voting against idiot legislation instead of wasting taxpayers' money in Brussels pubs and insulting other people. He could actually say some worthwhile things about the EU, but nobody listens to him because he chooses to go around insulting people.Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostNigel Farage is an elected member of the EU Parliament, Von Rumpoy is not.And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? I think you will find he does and I will think you will also find that most of his "insults" are levied against those who are freeloading off the EU gravy train. And if for a minute you think no one is listening to him then why are UKIP third in the Polls behind labour and the Torys.Originally posted by Mich the Tester View PostThen Mr Farage and his party should start turning up and voting against idiot legislation instead of wasting taxpayers' money in Brussels pubs and insulting other people. If you want to see insults then I suggest you look at what the Europhiles say https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5zQT6jLarE
and more importantly the desperate and illogical way they say it.Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyoneComment
