Ditch the pimps and go direct whenever possible.

Having been a contractor for decades I remember the days when agents actually did a very good job, monthly pissups they organised and paid for, actually paying a bonus for a referral, not asking for references until the gig was in the bag. I could go on...

Or agents calling you friday and saying 'Don't know SQL? - but you could learn it?' - Start Monday then....?'
