Is that aimed at yourself? I thought it was drink that was making you act like this, but that would explain a lot, and you being a jock as well.Originally posted by proggy View PostErrrr.. put down the crack pipe and call an ambulance.Comment

That has nothing to do with politics, and everything to do with what you consider important in life.Originally posted by ZARDOZ View PostIt's easier for a Camel to pass through the eye of a Needle than for a Rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
Two parables about money:

No, it's not a different picture - it's still Computer Misuse Act violation, people who did not close the bug might be incompetent idiots, but the person who'd take advantage of it to steal money would be doing time in jail (if found).Originally posted by TalkingCheese View PostNo, but take this scenario:
1. programmer writes code with security hole
2. during testing they find the bug and publicly debate it
3. they decide not to fix it
4. it is declassified as a bug and classed a feature
5. it is publicised in the professional press and put in the user manual
6. people make use of the feature
7. some of them are written letters asking to explain their use of it but after explanation the use is further validated
8. many others utilising the feature are ignored (even though they fully declared its use)
9. 21 years later the project team decides to reclassify the feature as a bug
10. the team mislead parliament (by declaring 1. and 6. above only, purposely ignoring the others and saying they always meant it to be a bug) persuading them to change the law retrospectively so that those who used the feature will owe an exceptional amount of money
11. people lose their livelihoods/lives as a result
... slightly different picture.
Same principle should apply to tax laws.
It's not like it's accidental action - BN66 and other schemes are all deliberately found and used loopholes in the system to gain financial advantage. It should be no more legal than doing the same to online banks.Last edited by AtW; 9 May 2013, 10:58.Comment

I don't drink at work, and I am only 25% genetically Scottish.Originally posted by Old Hack View PostIs that aimed at yourself? I thought it was drink that was making you act like this, but that would explain a lot, and you being a jock as well.Comment

I'd keep that quiet, the 25% bit. If you blag enough, you could cover that up very easily.Originally posted by proggy View PostI don't drink at work, and I am only 25% genetically Scottish.Comment

Jesus said "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's " i.e. pay your taxes. He clearly saw it as a moral issue.Originally posted by d000hg View PostThat has nothing to do with politics, and everything to do with what you consider important in life.Comment

Yeah and we do pay our taxes, otherwise we would all be locked up.Originally posted by ZARDOZ View PostJesus said "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's " i.e. pay your taxes. He clearly saw it as a moral issue.Comment

He did not need to finish the phrase with - "OR else!"Originally posted by ZARDOZ View PostJesus said "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's " i.e. pay your taxes. He clearly saw it as a moral issue.
Apparently the punishment dished out to tax evaders in ancient Rome was so horrible that no historian dared to write about it!

He also didn't say "also give to Caesar what might be his but its not clear and might change in the future"Originally posted by AtW View PostHe did not need to finish the phrase with - "OR else!"
