But Jesus wasn't a lawyer, his teachings are about morality.Originally posted by d000hg View PostNo, he said that men should respect the laws of their earthly rulers. Paying tax is simply one of those, in just the same way a Christian can't say "I don't need car insurance, God will protect me". The morality is in following the law. And for the nth time, tax avoidance is legal.Comment

It seems to you at least your religion is about justifying your opinions. Yet your opinions seem to be at odds with his teachings. This seems to be a common theme with some Godists, nasty, selfish individuals who think going to church once a week is a get out of jail free card. Essentially they can do what they like the rest of the time feck everyone else.Originally posted by d000hg View PostThey weren't about politics either, correct.
If I pay 3.5% tax what exactly am I contributing to society? I'm obviosuly taking out more than I put in. No real difference between that and a benefits cheat in my book.Comment

What an arrogant statement to make. I've spent over a decade learning about this stuff, which is agreed on by theologians (many non-believers) across the world. You flick through a few verses and from utter ignorance think you know more about it.Originally posted by ZARDOZ View PostIt seems to you at least your religion is about justifying your opinions. It's like a physicist who knocks up little FORTRAN apps thinking they know better about best practices for software development, if that is a clearer analogy for you.
Your entire nasty, offensive argument is just wrong on every level. None of the 'religious' people I know (several hundred) are like that - at worst they are as spiteful and self-interested as everyone else. It's like Americans thinking all Muslims are suicide bombers and terrorists because of 9/11.
It is very well understood that Jesus did not care about political upheaval or overthrowing the Romans. That's what the Jews were expecting, but not what they got.Last edited by d000hg; 9 May 2013, 14:01.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment
