    Black Death Unleashed!

BBC News - 'Black Death pit' unearthed by Crossrail project

Well presumably not really, but I was a little surprised the article doesn't even mention in passing "there is no danger posed" since we know bacteria can survive a long time.

Nothing to worry about, we have plenty of modern antibiotics that can treat any flare-up................or then again....

Considering the historical confutation of the Black Death/Plague suppositions that have been attributed to the rat-carrying bacteria, the current theory is that it was a virus aggressively similar to Ebola.

It is a bacterium (Yersina pestis) an so unlikely to still be viable. However, we are all descended from people who didn't die of the Black Death.
          Blog? What blog...?

Y Pestis is considered to be the most likely cause of the black death but it is by no means certain, medical and academics are not agreed on the cause or whether the Black death was the result of 3 separate diseases.

In any event, you have to have someone breathe on you who has the disease or, be bitten by infected fleas (if the supposition that Y Pestis is the causal effect) to be infected.
