And, son, never trust a man who drinks but refuses to get drunk. They’re usually afraid of something deep down inside, either that they’re a coward or a fool or mean and violent. You can’t trust a man who’s afraid of himself. But sometimes, son, you can trust a man who occasionally kneels before a toilet. It’s damned hard for a man to take himself too seriously when he’s heaving his guts into a dirty toilet bowl." - James Crumley.
To which I replied. Don't you "son" me, you patronising alky git.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

Doesn't feel strange at all, like I thought it would.
Quite like the freedom of driving everywhere, restaurants, dinner parties and the like.
The only dull bit is when people get drunk - then you find out what bores they really are.
Sounds like you had a drink problem. To have to totally abstain shows how weak a character you really are.

No I was a moderate drinker.
Just didn't think it was enhancing my life and didn't like societal pressure to conform to drinking on certain occasions.
To make a comment like the above shows what a weak, go-with-the-flow, Mr. average you are.
        Hard Brexit now!

          Sleeping, drinking and masturbating.

Gave up coffee as well. I only had two mugs a day, but the withdrawal symptoms for that were severe.

A man without vices is a man without virtues.
What happens in General, stays in General.
You know what they say about assumptions!

I'm not the one who feels the need to announce a battle with addiction to all and sundry.

What battle with addiction? That's just a figment of your addled brain.
