Not had a drink in a few weeks, quite honestly I could feckin' murder one or ten just now.

I have found that if I'm craving a cold beer Bavaria 0.0% works just as well for refreshment purposes.

I find there is a dearth of alternatives to lager /wine as a cold, refreshing drink that isn't sweet. Soft drinks or fruit juice are not ideal with dinner... other than water the best I have found is bitter lemon or ginger ale. Perhaps iced tea would fit the bill but we don't really have that here.

What do you drink with your nice restaurant meal Sas? Just water or do you have any tips on alternatives to wine, beer, etc?

Sadly most restaurants don't have a range of good non-alcoholic alternatives.
I use this place to order stuff for home:

Non-alcoholic wine and alcohol-free wines, alcohol-free beer and low-alcohol beer : The Alcohol-Free Shop

In a week or two once you have forgotten the taste of alcohol, some of these alternatives are surprisingly palatable. Still experimenting.

I did find this: Essencia Scotch Whiskey Flavour 28ml - £4.75 : Whytes Home Wine Equipment

They sell it as a cheap way to flavour vodka like other things, which sounds awful. But I was thinking yesterday how I'd love to have a non-alcoholic whiskey & ginger, and wondered if I could just put a couple of drops of flavouring in a glass of ginger ale, since you don't need to use nice whiskey in a W&G.

Similarly you could maybe make a fake G&T?

Yes, with the Bavaria 0.0% lager, that is the closest tasting to normal beer that you can get.
Can hardly tell the difference with an alcoholised beer, TBH. Very good.
