    Good post.

That is what a respectful person does when living and working in another country. I think if more immigrants took the time to do this there would be much more harmony in the cities and in the workplace.

Is it racist to lament that many incomers don't do this? I don't think so.

There might be individuals behaving differently, but why just based on one individual’s behaviour people from entire country/race being painted in one way or the other..?. Why can’t it be treated as individual behaviour.?

I have to share my very recent experience with co-workers here. In my last project I had chance to work with an Aussie guy, decent block, experienced guy – but only problem is he stinks very bad. If he is anywhere near - your nose will detect him before your eyes !. But I never thought all Aussies are like him. Also I was sitting next to a local lad - good friendly guy only problem is he sweats a lot & smells very bad. I never thought that’s general UK feature either!.

In my current role I work with an experienced older Manager, very friendly guy, but only problem is if he is any where near stinks very badly. Today I had to leave a meeting with him early, just to get fresh air.! But I do work with couple of other friendly locals as well who do not have these issues & suffering from him like me!. So I will never paint all locals in the same way.

So my advice is STOP this racist rants & treat your experience as behaviour of individuals. I am amazed how badly IT guys from India ("Bobs") are painted here. If they are so bad why they are recruited more & more here. I am sure many of us here were in leadership roles making decisions on recruitment. I know many of us (contractors) lost jobs due to them & anger towards them are reasonable in that way. But the way it’s expressed in this forum recently is really shocking. To be honest you can have technically strong bright Indian IT professionals and not so bright guys from the same IT outsourcer in the same project – Same way you get local IT professionals of varying capability.

For your reference I just copied some recent headers from this forum. It’s a real shame to have these racist rants are allowed in this so called professional forum.! Watching this forum in last 6+ years I can see some general pattern from some individuals in similar language.

      Bobs Photochromism ( By SimonMac)

Bobs and hocking flem (By BoredBloke)

So please don’t paint people from entire country on basis on your experience in one or two individuals & STOP these racist rants in this 'professional' forum. Thanks.
If people post opinions that you dont like what should you do?

      Ban them?
      Put them in prison?
And if they still wont shut up what then?

No. Discussion, argument, debate wins every time. Someone makes a sweeping generalisation then correct them.

Don't you mean "wobble my head"?

Firstly, I came here a decade ago when a UK company hired me and sponsored me for a specific skillset that was not available here. So I am not part of the ICT wave.

That out of the way, although I am from India, when I read posts about Bobs and dress sense, culture, body odour I actually "nod my head" at the post. Unlike the OP I am not offended in any way. Why ? Because once I was here I spent a huge amount of effort in learning the british culture and integrating here. This meant giving up a lot of cultural things that we do naturally if we were back in India.

However, what particularly annoys me is that a large amount of guys who come here as a wave do not particularly care about the culture here. You hear them talking loudly in Hindi to anybody who is from India. Many bobs try it with me and I tell them straight away to talk to me in English. Instantly they dislike me. Coming to body odour issue. This is another bug bear of mine. How difficult is it to groom yourself ? Have a proper bath, lots of deo, underarm deo, splash of body spray, and done! But no, they come over all sweating and puffing and stinking.

Food. What can I say ? The only food they know is curry. FFS. They have no inclination to try local food. They don't look around to see what others are eating. No inclination to try a sarnie or salads and stuff. They want curry every day. If there is a company dinner they want curry. FFS.

There are more and I can go on all day. When you come here you should adapt to this country and culture. End of.

All opinions are fine. But you expect different tone in professional forums than what you see & hear in football matches from hooligans.
