Children bringing cold chips to school in their lunchboxes. Is this really down to the economic squeeze, or just lazy and poorly educated parents who can't be bothered or don't know how to feed their children properly? I wonder if these families have cancelled their sky subscriptions before cutting their lunchbox budgets?

Laziness without a doubt, that's terrible sending a child to school with cold chips for lunch. This is the problem I have with money doled out it doesn't go where it's meant to. Why do we have an obesity problem if everyone is so poor or broke?

Lazy parents all the way, I assume a large part of it is the kid complaining they don't want a "healthy lunch" and the parents not turning round and say tough!

30 years ago you could easily spot the poor kids because they were so skinny.

The kids whose parents get money doled out to them and who don't know what contraception is like that woman in the DM will be on free school meals so those aren't the people who are sending their kids to school with cold chips as they don't have to send them to school with anything.

I think bad parenting is the major factor there, if you let your child eat junk and are inclined to let them sit there on their PS3 or Xbox 360 then they're going to get fat.

You're mostly correct. They do indeed get free school lunches, but they ALSO arrive eating bags of crisps/chips etc.

No matter what the cost is everyone should be given a free school lunch and breakfast.

Sadly the country is filled with people who do not understand even the basics of nutrition.

No breakfast, donner meat with chips and a can of relentless for lunch is going to do nobody any favours in the long run.
