Sadly the country is filled with people who do not understand even the basics of nutrition.

No breakfast, donner meat with chips and a can of relentless for lunch is going to do nobody any favours in the long run.
    Its Not??

But if you have salad on your donner does that count as 1 of your 5 a day?

Very laudable, but there's no effing way I'm letting them feed my kids. Oh, and that goes for private schools just as much as state ones.

Thing is school dinners aren't the best and regardless of whether they're free or not you'll probably find a large proportion of children don't like them and will ask their parents for sandwiches.

I was entitled to free school dinners as my mum was leeching off the state and I never bothered with them, apart from the fact they were nasty I was a very fussy eater so instead I just had crisps for lunch.

back in the day when I was at school it was mainly chips n something - you could get healthy food but no one did...

now when i look at the menu my kids get it is all Pasta n Mung Bean quiche - chips are reserved for 'special' meals

Guess they're still primary then? Seems to be chips every day at my son's school. I can see what he's been buying as they have an account - the menu seems to include haribo, yazoo (milkshake thing) and chocolate of various descriptions. I had words with him - but his excuse was that the main meals are tiny and have often run out. Dunno how true that is.

Yeah they are.... seem to be more into healthy food than I ever was - but then I was bought up on a diet of fishfingers, chips n beans where as mine are more pasta n veg etc.......

I guess when they can make their own choices they will stray onto burger n chips...

Children bringing cold chips to school in their lunchboxes. Is this really down to the economic squeeze, or just lazy and poorly educated parents who can't be bothered or don't know how to feed their children properly? I wonder if these families have cancelled their sky subscriptions before cutting their lunchbox budgets?
                It's a bit of a non-headline:
Some children are coming to school with cold chips
How many is some? Maybe it's a trendy thing to do in some schools -you know what kids are like with crazes. And as a story "lunch boxes less healthy" is not hard-hitting news. If the rest of our diets have gone downhill, why would this be any different?

Sounds like a typical IT Contractor's diet to me.

Back in my day lunch was 10 b&h and a sausage roll from the corner shop, still got change from a quid.
