On the M62 one Monday morning there was an accident on the East Bound side.

Traffic heading west slowed down (as it does) to look at the accident. All part from the Transit van one corsa behind me that hit the corsa into me at an angle sending me spinning across all 3 lanes.

One thing I discovered that day is that when all airbags go off at the same time you can't see a sodden thing through the smoke.

It did course a 24 mile tailback from 7:15am which was rather impressive.

Got knocked off my motorbike by car driver who didn't see me turning left and drive straight through me at 40Mph. Knackered up one leg and has left me in pain ever since. Got a nice payout though; liability admitted so no need to go to court or anything like that.

I've seen any number of shunts at the zebra crossing that I use when walking the dog. First car stops so that I can cross and second car drives into the rear of the first because the driver is drinking coffee/on the phone/doing makeup etc.

Driving to Bannockburn once for a show we saw a lorry clip a car and send it flying before the lorry rolled over the central reservation, across the road and down a hill.

Pulled up beside a crashed car once which had the wheels still spinning. A man was inside, out cold. We eventually got him out and the ambulance arrived.

        Couple of bangs and prangs.

Got held up at gun point once when I was a cashier.

Saw hundreds of fights when I grew up in Wales - one ended in the nightclub turning the lights on and the music off so the victim could be given CPR. 2 other unrelated fights ended with the bouncers fracturing someone's skull (not the same night).

Helped a motorcyclist who had been knocked down once before a nurse came over and started throwing her weight about and causing a scene.

        Probably a few others

Saw one yesterday morning. The (Dutch )A6 splits off onto the A1 into Amsterdam with 3 lanes going onward on the A6 and two lanes becoming the A1. There was heavy traffic on the A1, but traffic was flowing on the A6; the electronic signs were showing a 50kph limit to slow people down because fast moving traffic at one side could be dangeroous where slow moving traffic is changing lanes, but some cockhead in a little Audi just carried on at 120 or so. Of course, just as someone slowed to get on the A1, things went wrong. Audi swerved to left then back to right to avoid oncoming traffic, but hit the back corner of another car sending it spinning off the motorway a little further up. Called the police after stopping on the hard shoulder but apparently they already knew. If not for the very good reactions of a couple of oncoming drivers this could well have been a massive pile up. Dunno how it all worked out for the victim who was knocked off the road, but that raving cockface in the Audi would lose his license for a long time if there was any justice. What is it that makes some people thing they should drive at a murderous speed alongside slow traffic?

There was a particularly accident prone set of traffic lights I encountered on the commute I did for a couple of years. It was a crossroads for dual carriageways but widened at the crossroads itself for turn left, straight on and turn right, with separate lights for each lane.

I never fathomed out why so many drivers set off when the lights were red against them, but I would see at least one accident a fortnight there. Given I would be there twice for less than five minutes each day, I wondered how many accidents happened a month.

was coming back one sunny evening from Dorset (on work) in left hand lane (was having lunch at 70 as you did in the eighties) and a white van towing a caravan sped past me. Up Ahead there was traffic bunching up.

The caravan started snaking just in front of me, I slammed on the brakes as did everyone else.

The Caravan disconnected and spun gently through the air, out to the central reservation and back to the hard shoulder. The Van struggled a little and followed the caravan they ended up on the hard shoulder van right way up but with all the corners rounded and the caravan dented & upside down just behind the van as if it was still attached. The Driver & passenger got out of the van OK.

Best one was where someone tried to change lanes on a roundabout from lane 1 to lane 2 and crashed straight into me, he came out of car giving it verbal saying all sorts, was quickly silenced when he saw he hit an unmarked police vehicle
