Just because porn is blocked does not mean the internet is safe!
There will still be unsuitable content, porn which slips through the net and unsavory characters

Indeed. You get a fair bit on IM, for instance. I found the hand-wringing, wont-somebody-think-of-the-children a bit distasteful (and deluded).

Since 40% of the internet is porn (the remaining 60% being split roughly equally between cats, facebook and other things)*, I'd be interested to know exactly how such a scheme would have worked, technology-wise.

I had to phone Orange and ask them to enable adult content in order to be able to access CUK. (I'd already tried the 'this site should not be categorised as adult content' link to no avail. I blame one a day.

I was brought up on 70's Brit porn such as Whitehouse, Razzle and Penthouse, I thought all penises where flaccid, and women had just smooth skin in the crotch, or a huge asterix. I just hoped I wouldn't get one with an asterix when I eventually started shagging, oddly enough only a few weeks ago.
