Permies are people too, you get good people and bad people. I am just trying to make sure we appreciate the good ones.
Just do what feels right to you

My advice is to buy a bottle/meal for the ones who got you in (as a thank you) and buy your round when at the pub next week . Don't go too overboard or they'll start to forget you're different.

Cant decide whether the gifts or cards be purchased through company money or personal?

p.s. I am thinking of buying whiskey.

If that's what you are thinking, then it's not an expense so you may as well buy it personally.

Gifts to customers and suppliers are usually treated as entertainment expenses, and so are not generally tax-deductible. This rule does not apply however, to promotional items, such as pens or diaries that feature your logo prominently, or free samples of your own products.

In this case, you can claim the VAT back as long as the gift has cost you no more than £50 (excluding VAT) and is not food, alcohol, tobacco or vouchers exchangeable for goods. You can even give several gifts to the same person during a 12-month period, providing their total value is not more than £50.

Give cards to people you actually like. If you like giving cards out then it's hardly an IR35 pointer!

I would check client rules about alcohol on site before buying booze.

If I were to plonk a bottle of wine on my colleagues' desks it could mean the end for all of us.

My client is a bit extreme about these things but it's worth checking.

Already checked, they are ok with it. Very easy going bunch, which is why I want to buy some of them something. Didn't get anyone anything last Christmas though.

                  +1

I brought some wine from France in for someone I was friendly with on client site. We had to get it out of the office and into the car quickly before anyone found out.
