I read one of his books when I was 7 or 8, which gave me a life-long interest in space.

His books and TV programs inspired me as a child to become interested in astronomy

WTS - I'm sure I had some sort of Sky At Night book as a young kid. I lost interest in astronomy as well as dinosaurs and volcanoes, but that kind of thing kindled my interest in science.

By weird coincidence, I watched The Sky At Night last night for the first time in years.

Weirdly last night I dreamed he had died

I saw him on a plane from Inverness to Gatwick a few years ago.

Still at least he's died just in time to avoid arrest under operation Yewtree lol (joke!)
