It's only a betrayal if you think that because an actor entertains you it means that somehow he's a good and splendid human being. Obviously some actors have bought into this lie, but we shouldn't be so deluded.Originally posted by vetran View Postsuppose he's dead so won't sue, hope he doesn't turn out to be a perv that would be a betrayal too far.
"Oh, I'm so surprised about <insert name of actor who fell from grace here>. He seemed such a nice guy". Yeah - well he was an actor. It was his job to pretend to be something other than what he was.Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment

Indeed but so far MOST of the older actors have been fairly sympathetic cases. Even Tony Hancock's demons were rather sad. I prefer to think people that entertain me are fairly harmless, the horror of discovering John Craven or the Attenboroughs were into some illegal debased sexual practices would create a small chink in my reality.Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostIt's only a betrayal if you think that because an actor entertains you it means that somehow he's a good and splendid human being. On an unrelated note, does anyone know why Leon Brittan gave up his Westminster political career to go to Brussels in 1989? Wiki doesn't mention it but reading between the lines, it may have been related to the alleged leaking of a letter over the Westland affair.Originally posted by vetran View PostThe material prosperity of a nation is not an abiding possession; the deeds of its people are.

That ruddy nonce Elmo has now been exposed as well. Should have reported him a couple of years ago when my son wanted him out of his bed on account of his strange googly eyes.

It is getting out of hand now. The violin teacher at my little girl's school was badly beaten the other day for kiddie fiddling.Originally posted by Alf W View PostBBC News - Sesame Street puppeteer disciplined over relationship
