I don't know - I like the current system.
I've got 2 paid-off properties and am a member of the rentier class.
There have always been people throughout history who would change that but they never have and never will.Hard Brexit now!

So you don't like the chance to earn a quick buck from buying my farmland and selling it back to me for one pound more? Or make it four pounds more; that might get you a pint in London.Originally posted by sasguru View PostI don't know - I like the current system.

100%?Originally posted by Robinho View PostI would personally suggest all of it, or 95% at least if you want to keep tax on cigs and beer or something.
The intent would be for it to replace tax on productive activity like income, vat, corp tax etc.

But what would you like? It was 100%. Do you want royalties on oil and gas extraction? Anything else?Originally posted by Robinho View PostYou could add oil/carbon taxes as well if you like, as i said, getting rid of taxes on productivity are the most important taxes too lose. The material prosperity of a nation is not an abiding possession; the deeds of its people are.

Well if the oil was land based then the value of that land would be worth quite a bit, and a lot of tax would be levied. You could apply the same principal to the sea bed in UK economic waters.Originally posted by speling bee View PostBut what would you like? It was 100%.
