How many wives or partners (of us blokes) do you think object to having had these kids? I doubt it's many.

I, for one, applaud your decision not to pollute the gene pool. As you are the end of your line, I hope you make the most of it.

My wife feels precisely the same way, and gave up an incredibly lucrative career as a contract DBA (I still weep) to become a full time mum.

It's a bit piss poor to suddenly turn it sexist...

The reason my wife has not posted on here how much she loves our kids is that she does not read this forum.

Sorry, I am not sure what point you are trying to make?

+1 Also weeping at the loss of income. And having to say goodbye in the morning when the little fella just wants to show you what he made with the lego that you painfully stood on last night in the dark.

OK, second thoughts, having kids sucks, don't do it.

On a serious note I do worry that to the majority, the colossally important choice to have kids is "just what you do".

Well, worry might be too strong a word. Ponder is perhaps more appropriate.

I opened shops because I wanted to open shops.
I bought a big house & ****off big telly because I wanted a big house & ****off big telly.

I'm not sure I understand your 'just what you do' comment?
