My current (weak minded) PM asked me to fix up a report today. I already crushed this person through public arguments in agile standups where this person cannot produce ideas. Im delivering ... bosh bosh bosh - damn, where do these ideas come from??- I live this sh1t, forget it. This PM always comes to my desk and when asking me something goes bright red around the neck. I did the hard analysis work and made sure anyone nearby in power knew i had sussed it. I then explained to the PM one-to-one how they could take my input and fix the report themselves. Too scared to pull me up on it. I should have really taken ownership of the issue to closure.

Young dev sitting next to me is taking so much of a subtle mental beating from me he's developed munchhousen syndrome. Im good cop bad cop within the same conversation. He now treats me like his boss. I'm not his manager. But I've pulled him up on his smart arse work and shown him the real stuff. He's not stupid, he knows who's the real boss.

And I've just been offered a 6 month extension.
You might want to work on your interpersonal skills, as you come across as a total ******.

While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

WDS but heck anyone who reads anything you write or say is probably counting down the days to the project is finished and you walk out the door.

Well done, looks like you've demoralised you're entire team. Types like you typically brown nose their permie hiring managers like there is no tomorrow in order to keep those extensions coming.

I assume he is a keyboard cowboy giving the big I am behind a faceless username on an anonymous forum, in life he bends over just like everyone else when it comes to getting the needful done for an invoice to be signed

I can't grasp why people post insults directly at me on here. Or rather, I think those posters are not reading the thread or really seeing what a forum like this can do for us. You are wasting your time with trivial posts and see it as an extension of the pub.

I've boldly told you how I operate, knowing it would upset a few, and I wait for the one line insults to roll in from the predictables. One line digs add nil and certainly don't hurt.

Reading the low quality posts on this thread just shows me one thing, I'm posting at the B-team. You just aren't getting it yet.

Rise above it and be joyous team!

What can it do for us? Help us recognise and make the most of our strengths and weaknesses?

I'd say that your main weakness is that you don't have a very balanced life and most of your perception of your own worth comes from your work. It's fear and anxiety caused by having this single source of self esteem threatened that causes you to act like a tosser and convince yourself that you're somehow in control of the people around you. You've rationalised this as a good thing but ironically it's exactly the thing that will lead to your demise. One day a project will go tits up through no fault of yours, your illusion of control and source of value will disappear and you'll end up a gibbering wreck.

You're a nervous breakdown waiting to happen.

How can this be considered a serious post given you have never met me, and don't know my work history? It is another thinly veiled dig.

Post something honest about yourself. There is no need to feel vulnerable here. Then we can move forward. Until then dream on by framing me into your little world.

Perhaps that was something honest about myself?
