      Not surprising.

Has education become an "industry" now, like banking?

Education became an industry as soon as loans replaced grants and universities were allowed to set their own tuition fees.

Cuts in higher education spending meant universities had to become businesses selling education to students, and overseas students were the most lucrative market.

I was under the impression that engineering degrees in the UK were accredited by the respective institutes and exam papers had to be of a certain standard with set content. How are they getting away with just handing these out?

Also I worked with a bob who had an MBA recently, I got the impression that he printed it out at an internet cafe.

Amazingly people fall for these qualifications. It think I might just play the game and buy a Phd.

I interviewed a 'bob' a few years ago who had just finished his MSC in advanced computer techniques blah blah. He had finished his course and was given a highly skilled migrant visa to work here. I have to say he didnt seem to know what he had done in his MSC course. He was extremely poor in all subjects of computer science and his asking salary was around 18K.

I think I see the problem.
