I now live further out West, not far from Heathrow but with overground links to Waterloo. I can make it to Bank/Moorgate in just over an hour, and the area I live in is so much nicer than Ealing. (I've studied and socialised in Ealing for years some time ago).

As said by others here you need to know where you might be contracting, to get the journey planned properly.

I reckon (North) East London is best for commuting into the City, when you consider reasonable rental/purchase prices for properties. You can go from Chigwell or Ilford to the Wharf in like 30 minutes.

Stratford to City is damn quick too.

I would have loved to have lived in the City when I was working there, but it's not for family life and rentals/purchases are expensive.
Ah ok, another different opinion on Ealing then.

Aren't most of the contracts in the centre? Or I have the wrong idea?

Yeah fair comment. I am into .NET development. Well from the countries I have worked in, normally contracting would be more based in the centre or in financial districts, maybe its different in London? I see lots of adverts (fake or not) in CW and Central London, that was my assumption.

That's your one response for today: I hope you enjoyed it.

While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

However, there were some affordable flats there for rent and for purchase when I was last looking (three years ago).

The employer I was engaged with at that time ultimately ended up finding me a house share in Streatham (South London). Again, posh bits next to not-so-salubrious areas.

Foxton's estate agents' website is quite a good resource for getting a feel for what's out there in London. They're a pain in the backside to deal with, though. Best just to use their site to get an idea of what's on the market, then approach sellers/landlords direct.

Streatham and posh, are you having a laugh ?
