Been to the Webb Estate?, or Bishop's Road in Hampstead or large parts of Richmond or Barnes, or Highgate, Kensington or Chelsea ....?
Judging by your pictures your crappy flat is no great shakes, either

To the OP: I hope you find what you're looking for. If nothing else, at least you've discovered that CUK General might not be the best place to obtain advice unadulterated by trolling. 'General' is kind of a receptacle for problem contractors (and failed contractors) that CUK operates on behalf of the wider internet community.

    Good luck!

      Wow, I've got another fan.

I must say I'm flattered but I like real women. HAB might be more your type. Less fussy, know what I mean?

Interesting that you see it like that. I wonder why?

I use it as practice for dealing with 5 year olds.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

Yeah got a fairly good idea, much more than I expected TBH being a contractor's forum and all. But its nice to have some good tips on when I will make the move. Got a fairly good idea on the commute's also, and will do more research on different boroughs.

DimPrawn is thick. And so is BB, Doogy, SB, BP, Churchy, Zoidercock et. al

Who is BB? Is that me? I don't ever recall talking to her!
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

            I preferred version 1!

This thread http://forums.contractoruk.com/gener...-london-4.html also gave me some ideas on Central London (zone1) and it seems that people try to avoid being so central

If only Alf Garnet had turned up to the fateful CUK meetup instead of Spod, it could have been oh so different for CM.
What happens in General, stays in General.

When I first came to London in 2005 I rented a room for £525 all-in off Caledonian Road, N1. Easy walk to Kings Cross.

Then up until 2 years ago I was renting a 2 bed flat in Finsbury Park for £1300 a month, if you can find someone to share with that would be easily within budget.

Not sure if/how much rates have gone up in that time. Really great access to National Rail and Piccadilly line at Finsbury Park.

I now own a house in Tottenham (Zone 3) and have great access to Piccadilly Line at Turnpike Lane and Victoria Line and National Rail to Liverpool St/Stratford/Stansted at Tottenham Hale. Door to door commute is currently 50 mins depending on bus timings to the station, to Canary Wharf.

Piccadilly also goes all the way to Heathrow if you flying anwyhere, used quite a few times.

You may also be able to claim the rent from your company depending on contract duration, and if you have a primary residence elsewhere.

Never has a man been heard to say on his death bed that he wishes he'd spent more time in the office.
