I try to do 6 to 9 months working, but it doesn't always work out.Originally posted by Basil Fawlty View PostThis is also my aim once I've filled the warchest a bit more.
Do you do this every year in a kind of 6 month on 6 month off way ? Or do you need to be a bit more flexible depending on the contract situation ?
For a few years I had a client that sent me to India for the winter.
2 years ago I had Nov + Dec on beach
Worked the whole of last year.
Had Jan - March off this year.
Not sure how things will work out next year

Current clientco has an office in Hammersmith. Very residential and not that much going on IMO ... plenty of drunks sunning themselves by the river and shouting at people though.Originally posted by Platypus View PostI was in Hammersmith on Saturday. I thought it looked a bit of a dump TBH
I've lived in Pimlico before and recommend it - good for central government clients as its walking distance from Whitehall, Westminster & Victoria.
Currently own a place in Canada Water / Rotherhithe (Zone 2 - SE16) which is excellent for the City (Overground to Shoreditch High Street) and Canary Wharf (by boat or Jubilee Line).Comment

Just had six weeks off in France. Magic. Now with the same client who sanctioned the time off.
You need a good break every now and again.
I also now have a deeper understanding of what dealing with 3 under 9 yo children is like, day in day out, 24/7. This makes me respect my wife more, as shes still sane and nice to the kids and I cannot wait to be away for a few days next week abroad for the client...Comment
