This seems too cautious. The chance of being audited is low. Assuming its billable, I would attend, I would not claim for the costs and if hector asked I'd say I wasn't there. I would buy a few rounds too. It's a good chance to get some info and make some pals -

Wow!! Many thanks for all your views!! Much appreciated. I think i'm gonna take the cautious approach and decline politely. Altho i do know some coworkers might think i'm doing it for money as they will not know about IR35 and all, but better to be safe than sry ltrs!!

Yes, and that's going to look good when Hector asks ClientCo if you were there, and they say "yes" because they've no reason to lie for you. Or did you imagine Hector just takes people's word for what they say they were doing?
