They've corrected that and inserted a notice to that effect.Behold the warranty -- the bold print giveth and the fine print taketh away. -
They probably had the advantage of starting with shiny new systems and don't have a load of ancient code to maintain.Originally posted by NorthWestPerm2Contr View PostI have heard good things about First Direct, but that is mainly because they are so small it is easier to control things. Ah!! Batch processing! I remember that way back when I worked in payroll/works wages. Fortunately I got out of that crap into real time, military and industrial control systems and simulators.

I was involved in the early discussions when RBS bought over Natwest, of which systems should the preferred option, Natwests IMS system or RBS CICS/DB2.Originally posted by darmstadt View PostThe most widely used OLTP for banks is CICS which just happens to be a mainframe application although where I am we're converting it to IMS, also mainframe and one of the fastest and most widely used OLTPs. Needlessy to say RBS won the argument.
I much prefer IMS!!Comment

In my experience banks have file transfers flying around between systems all over the place, even within the bank.Last edited by Sysman; 27 June 2012, 21:32.Behold the warranty -- the bold print giveth and the fine print taketh away.Comment
