Yeah, but their call centres are manned by UK folk and First Direct have a good reputation nevertheless. Don't know who does their IT.Originally posted by Basil Fawlty View PostAren't First Direct owned by HSBC ?Comment

Guardian readers were a bit slow on the uptake but are now condemning outsourcing, and the Telegraph article is showing comments now also, similarly condemning it. A good day for UK IT and the UK in general, even if it did require people feeling it in their pockets before they could be arsed.Originally posted by TimberWolf View PostThe Daily Mail's most highly rated comments condemn outsourcing, while Guardian reader comments ignore the Indian aspect and concentrate on general IT incompetence, and I can't see any Telegraph comments.

All in the hands of the MTT-Wilmslow Interplanetary Software Services Alliance. I've been with them over 20 years.Originally posted by NorthWestPerm2Contr View PostI had a negative balance on my RBS business account until today. They have apparently managed to fix my account - I think on this occasion I will forgive and stick with them since I have been with them for 12 years. If it happens again then I will have no choice but to switch banks.
I'm moving next week when it's all calmed down.

They're all the same - I had to use Barclays Online mobile when they died.Originally posted by scooby View PostMy accounts seem fine now. But I do think once I move house this weekend, and udpate the company details, I will be moving banks. This is a really piss take!!
What confused me at weekend was that online, it wouldnt let me transfer money, internal or external, yet on the Android app I paid a bill and moved some money... WTF??"I can put any old tat in my sig, put quotes around it and attribute to someone of whom I've heard, to make it sound true."

You can see how easy it would be to bring down the whole banking system with a simple software bug. Maybe it is time to get into OLTP Banking Systems..... Crazy rates perhaps?Comment

The most widely used OLTP for banks is CICS which just happens to be a mainframe application although where I am we're converting it to IMS, also mainframe and one of the fastest and most widely used OLTPs. Mainframes: the future and bollocking good rates, so keep away.Originally posted by NorthWestPerm2Contr View PostThe word Contagion will take on a whole new meaning if that happens....
