Dont get too excited;
The European Commission took the decision under the EU Data Protection Directive, but the directive does not apply to data collected for security purposes.

No, thats why it got overturned. The original agreement with the US to export the data was signed by the commison was based on the principle that security data was not coverd by the Data Protection Directive. Ah, maybe I misread it? Anywho, the directive doenst kick in until September which means by then a new way of handing over the info will have been found.
