Clueful entrepreneurs we like clueless ones we don't. This one is distinctly amateurville even before he complained to a national newspaper during which he admitted to breaking the minimum pay act.
So in the current climate, with people going to food banks who are on the dole and not getting paid - you'd risk your safety net for a job offering £50 a week in a dodgy startup on the promise that if he does make it he'll perhaps give you commission.
I know what I'd do. 10 quid a day is taking the mick thats not even 2 pound an hour.
Indeed, completely ridiculous.
However if I were one of those one the dole, I would have attended, signed contracts and a week later taken him to a tribunal and sued over breaking the minimum pay regulations.
Once many moons ago I tried to do cold calling telesales for a summer job. I lasted one evening. I hated it.
You have to have a skin thicker than Churchill soaked in vinegar and baked in an oven for 10 hours coupled with an 'I'm gods gifts' attitude to even think of doing cold calling.
I've done the same work before as well, truly soul destroying.
I cant believe Im saying this, but you're right about needing a thick skin. However the right aptitude is possible within everyone with enough cocaine. One telesales place I work in my youth got shut down a while after I left as the manager was pushing/dealing coke to all the staff to keep them happy and revved up on the phones.
As discussed it was probably 'self employed' I wonder if the government is going to close that loophole? If it walks like a duck etc its probably an employee.
so he rips poor Doley's off. they lose their benefits.
