I've seen that said about the Scandinavian countries too. When winters can be so harsh, you need to pull together as a society.

Strength in unity? Balls to that, I'd rther strength in numbers.

Ever since the Barnett formula was introduced, we've been positively discriminating, and I don't agree with this. Now you have Salmond picking and choosing what he wants to pay for, and want he wants us to pay for, yet have devo max, or rather to have full control over the countries finances, yet not have all of the responsibilities. He's rather obviously taking the piss.

As I said, there is no West Lothian question, they should simply feck off and pay for themselves the scrounging wasters

I agree. However the issue is more complex than that. To quote from the article itself,

everyone else would vote for independence if it brought in roughly enough to buy a new iPad, and against if not.

            FGS - do it sensibly

they want to do it then

We need a referendum in the whole of the UK. (they are asking for a change to the UK not just Scotland so they need to convince us). Scotland can pay for the vote.

Before that the style of devolution including details of who pays for what needs to be agreed and published. I suspect either Scotland or the rest of us will object unless its fair.

Then if they can get a yes vote after that good luck to them.

I'm not happy for us to support them in their independence dream, they can stand on their own two feet. - up & proud under their sporran!

If the whole UK gets a vote, the Scots'll be independent in no time.

It's bizarre that Alec Salmond wants to wait "until the time is right" in a couple of years, during which time he hopes to persuade the Scots to vote Yes. But if England were allowed to vote, he could win right now, which would be great for England too, as we'll then get the government we vote for instead of the other lot

Tell Salmond to put his vote where his mouth is.

but it has to be a UK wide one, to save costs maybe combine it with a general election?

It's different for the Welsh. Scotland is a country in it's own right that signed a Union treaty with England so that can be reversed. Wales is an annexed region of England.

Let's face it, Scottish independence is just bluster and noise. It won't happen.
