Hi All,
I've had an interesting year job wise and I now find myself in a battle to be happy with my 'lot'.
1yr ago I realised that I was incredibly fed up in a perm PM role that wasn't challenging me or providing me the opportunities to progress.
I decided to make the leap and move to another role at a small firm that sounded much more exciting. The new job had great people who I really enjoyed spending time with but it was a nightmare role where I could not deliver due to the fact as a organisation it had promised far more to customers than it had the time to deliver (sales agreeing to 6week delivery timescales before asking project how long it would take etc..)
Anyway after seeing how things were going and realising that I was having to hire contractors to cope with workload I decided to make the leap to go contracting myself (I was also motivated by the fact i'm newly married and would like to be a 1st time buyer this century..!).
However this is where I think I made a mistake. I was offered a contract by my old employer (the boring one). Rose tinted glasses made me think that it was a perfect place for a first contract (I know how things work etc..) so I joined 2 months ago.
However I now find myself just as bored as I was before except now as a contractor I feel can't say anything as will risk the job. I also feel that people will feel that I just can't be happy anywhere.
Is it so wrong to want to work hard and do a good job in a place with the right tools to do it?
How do I stay motivated where I am for the next 10months ? Unfortunately I do really need to stay as saving for the huge deposit and my wifes income is tiny > 10k..
