Ah, someone, who has few posts to their name and whose name begins with Z, has repped me giving me 1 extra point. Compared to 4 other reps totalling 69 points, so post count still seems to weigh heavily in the repping algorithm, which may not have changed.

some people use it maliciously - then it aint good for people or for the forum

Thanks "A..", that packed a mighty 36 points. So taking only postcount into account, repPower ~= postCount / 800. Forget what was the second variable was in the algorithm last time, but it wasn't a significant factor IIRC.

long time, high profile members, stop posting then suddenly spring up with the same lingo and attitude as another member
it's almost as if the malicious member had the id and pw of the old time respected member, and this explains the sky rocketing rep of the malicious poster.

It's all speculation of course but I wonder what MF and AtW think of the idea
