So how is the new gig going so far?

      Update.

Spoke to the PM on this project at last clientco.

In the end they kept him at home for 8 weeks before bringing him back in. They dropped his rate 29% and he went back part-time. The project was cancelled completely and a new one raised in its place. The new project is now, no longer develop the solution itself but outsource it.

So looks like i played this well. The added bonus is, present clientco has the type of software and skills they need, so I'm going to pass all the details and contact information over to the sales team.

Who on earth would wait 8 weeks???

Is there any way they could outsource it to your company(i.e. to you)?

I am sure if you want a sales person there are plenty here who are full of poo which is the main feature required by a sales person.....

Bollocks. Just on a team call and my mate has quit after 11 weeks.

I specifically took the gig on the grounds that he would be coming on board in the US as it meant I'd be able to do this contract by just travelling backwards & forwards to the US every 4-6 weeks or so as he was the point contact & would take late meetings I couldn't do.

          Now I'm bloody shafted.

Does that mean your only option is full time States? You poor sod.

It's going to cause some issues yes.

Having done a similar role before, it works when you have a good point person in the US. They attend meetings, provide feedback, direction, requirements etc.

If you have no-body or someone who is just plain useless, you get sidelined & you have no idea what's going on. Everything is run from the US Globally for clientco. It leaves these options

                1) Goto the US Perm which is a non -starter
                2) Increase Flights to the US & stay 2/3 weeks at a time - which is doable as long as they pay & don't do a travel ban (which also happened to me last time)
                3) Do what you can and milk it until you cannot deliver any more.
                4) Feck off.

So looks like (2) in the short-term.

                  Believe it or not.

He's sick to death of permie politics, decided he hates Sales Operations and wants to go back to being a Technical Consultant/Contractor.

He's going to feck off contracting!

                    Suity or your m8?

Since I went permie everyone seems to want to follow me. Weird.

I decided not to take the permie offer with shares & go for the contracting rate which was generous.

Lo and ******* behold, the company floated and the shares went up 50%.

Strike it down as another classic wrong move from MF.
