He'd still be doing his hail mary's wouldn't he?

It's things like this that I have always found odd. We don't know, but he could ahve taken a communion the day before, and topped himself safe in the knowledge he'd be gods buddy for eternity.

However, after reading about Les Diables de Rouen, I don't think that he did...

Technically yes Hitler could be saved on his deathbed. But it has to be real - you can't make a token deathbed apology. And the confession is a response to believing in, and accepting Jesus, which is the thing which gets you salvation. Therefore it is not something you can manufacture or choose at will, you have to actually believe it.

Therefore the deathbed confession route isn't workable. God would know what you were up to

Hanged is used only as the past tense form for killing someone through hanging. In all other contexts it's hung. Apparently.

Personally i don't mind religious believers, as long as they leave me in peace, and i even enjoy the odd metaphysical argument with them now and then, but I cannot help but think they are wrong headed and eventually such beliefs will die out as civilisation evolves. No doubt they think similar things of me. The two viewpoints are ultimately contradictory. Nothing you can do about that.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

Why does/did Hitchens write books about it?

And you DO get people preaching about atheism. Hyde Park Corner has a few.
Very true - those kind of aethiests really to drive me nuts. Aethiests believe their is no God - but you can't prove there is no God however much you try. So if you don't have enough faith you should label yourself an antagonist and leave it at that. What's with going round preaching to people their lack of faith. The craziest thing about it all is these aethiest kids camps in America and when one of them gets seriously ill they all combine to "pray" somehow to help the person. Wierd.....

Look at what the lack of religion has done to this country. That debate programme on the BBC on last Sunday morning was cracking - finally some people are starting to realise that lack of religion is a bad thing.

Last week's New Scientist had a number of articles devoted to God and religion. Apparently certain atheistic views (e.g. equating belief in God with belief in santa) are unscientific.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

                  That's 'cause Santa's real.

                    I'd disagree with that actually.

Most atheists basic point is that there is no proof.

Ergo, show us proof, and we'll be happy to acknowledge God's existence. That's easy.

Believer: Here is proof God exists.
                    God: Yep, here I am.
                    All Atheists: Cool, fair enough.

Whether we choose to follow him is the next question.

You don't need religion to be a good person.

In fact some of the worst crimes in history have been done in the name of religion.
