The gulf in mentality is amazing. When I was a permie I found it difficult to get out of bed when I was in good health let alone when I was sick. Now I drag myself out of bed in whatever state my health is..... Gotta take the money! -
I believe the causal effect is that the mentality makes you go into contracting not vice versa.Originally posted by NorthWestPerm2Contr View PostThe gulf in mentality is amazing. When I was a permie I would turn up after no sleep following a massive session or with any kind of illness. Of course once I was well I'd take a sick day in lieu and enjoy it in rule health.Comment

For gods sake! Why the feck would you have a hangover on your own time?Originally posted by GeorgeB View PostBlimey, I had a pretty bad hangover last friday, so called in sick and stayed at home
. Most expensive sick day Ive ever taken and hurt the pocket pretty bad.
Must try to be more hardcore
Wednesdays used to be the party night when I worked away from home. So thursdays work was mainly restricted to stuff that it would n't be too hard to fix on friday.
Must try harder

I try to avoid big sessions during the week now as beer gives me a headache in medium to large quantities. I'll take sick days if I have a migraine but that's it. One this year. What happens in General, stays in General. You know what they say about assumptions!Comment

I try not to have time off in either permy or contractor mode.
But then again I'm not a southern shandy-drinking jessie!
I had a migraine once, thought I was dying. Caused by a 75hz CRT with a 50hz Neon striplight. Not fun.Comment

You should go and see your gynaecologist again. Even at your age, irregular menstruation can be a symptom of something serious.Originally posted by MarillionFan View PostPermie.

I knew a guy who drank Stella top. Whenever at the pub I hated buying the next round and having to speak those words. They always put his drink in a girlie glass so at least I had the last laugh as I gave it to himOriginally posted by Old Greg View PostFFS!
10 hash browns, pot of strong coffee, 1/2 pint of apple juice, 2 pints of Stella top and a dump and you'd be right as rain.

I'm Currently mentoring a public sector permie manager.
Last week he had a cold and was off all week.
Apparently he was off a whole month last year for a cold too...
Public Sector is a REAL eye opener after all these years of contracting in proper companies...
I should have started a blog from the start...
