If people want to die they should be allowed to, and not have to do something that gives a long painful death or take the risk they survive with failed organs.

Why are we not as forward as the Swiss? Why do we not allow dignity and free will in this country?

I know this was a jokey thread, but Dignitas is my answer.

Dignitas operates under sufferance. The Swiss are not happy being a suicide tourist destination. Helping people to commit suicide is not against the law, but an organisation to help people is considered by many a step too far.

Train (aside from how unfair it is on everyone else) isn't foolproof. I had a pal from Uni who did it - it wasn't instant or painless, but he did die in the end.

Who are these many people? Everyone I know thinks the opposite. Are we talking lefties who arent in favour of people being able to make their own choices and thinking that the state knows better?

Nor am I seeing that the Swiss are not happy re being a suicide tourist destination, in fact quite the opposite. A recent referendum showed 85% against a ban on people getting help in killing themselves. A second vote to outlaw suicide tourism was also beaten with only 22% in favour.

Depression is a horrible illness in itself and sometimes can get the better of you.

If someone wants to go, then they will do everything they can to do so.

Though the vast majority of people who try pills and booze often end up making themselves ill rather than succeeding probably depends on the mix of pills and booze.
