From this point of view Taleban was perfect - they banned it and were very harsh about it so that drug production dropped by like 90%, as soon as Afganistan was liberated drug productions went up and up and up. Much like in ecosystem - you kill some "bad" species, and it leads to undesireable effects. -
This is all my opinion. Suicide is considered a sin in Islam, there is no doubt there. The problem is that giving ones life in the name of Islam is considered an act of martyrdom and is therefore blessed. A bit of a conflict.Originally posted by snawWee bit of an extreme spin some of the logic here.
Most muslims in this country aren't suporters of suicide bombers, nor do they condone the actions of them. Let's not confuse the vast majority with a small minority of extremists, or we'll end up with a bigger problem on our hands.
The nutters don't represent Islam any more than animal rights loonies represent vegetarians or or BNP does white people.
I do feel that it is you that is mislead, the nutters do represent maintstream Islam, it is just their actions that are frowned upon.
I will try and make this simple. I have said this before
All Muslims must obey the Koran and follow the traditions. If they do not then they are not Muslim and are eternally damned.
The Koran says they must fight the infidel when they are capable.
Anyone who fights the infidel must be supported.
There is more, but deep down the Muslim community supports these people.
Any Muslim who doesnt is damned.I am not qualified to give the above advice!

It's a misleading statistic. Last year there were some that were broken down a bit more. Kenyan/Ugandan Asians, many of them Muslim, do better than average. Pakistanis are not very far behind whites.
The problem is greatly slanted by Bangladeshis whose economic performance is abysmal because they were mostly peasant farmers who never had the skills to succeed here anyway and it is very difficult for their children to better themselves as the UK is a very socially immobile country. Whites in ex mining areas where all the jobs vanished have had much the same problem.
Nobody would say racism is never a factor but as a major cause it does not fit the facts. We should have had a more discerning immigration policy that insisted on useful skills and a decent education.bloggoth

You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

Is it only me that thinks the Koran, Bible, Torah, whatever, are only books written by men and if you want to believe, believe, if not, don't?

As for what the muslim community deep down feels, I'm pretty certain that you could have no idea of that - given your not so sunny disposition towards them. The ones I know though, most certainly don't.
BTW Want to share where you get your information on muslims and what they think/feel?Hang on - there is actually a place called Cheddar?? - cailin maith

The Bible (new testament) is not the word of God whereas the Koran is.Originally posted by snawThe bible say's a lot of things that most of us would find objectionable, doesn't mean most Christains are calling for disobediant children, gays and adulterous wives to be stoned to death ...

My viewpoint on Muslims is based on my reading of the Koran and the traditions.
Muslims are not entitled to think or feel for themselves if the books say so, they can only blindly adhere to the books.
The books tell them it is OK to tell your enemy (the infidels) anything they want to hear in the cause of Islam. Therefore the only way we can be sure is to read the Koran ourselves.
I dont actualy have a problem with Muslims. Most of the ones I know are realy nice guys who I have known since I was a child, but as I have grown and studied I have learned that there is a certain amount of front and there is a certain religious duty which will one day make them strangers to me as has happened on a number of occasions.I am not qualified to give the above advice!
