I had a couple of sips of high energy tap water.

You should definitely try the energy stuff before your race - it can have an, er, loosening effect, and you don't want nasty surprises on the day.
Top tips! thanks all. I am on the case.

            Moorfield would demand a refund.

Training started properly again today - I managed the iron man distance ( Brillos Channel Tunnel Cycle ) in 8 hours 20 minutes. Major error I made was not refuelling while feeling good - at about 7 hours I totally collapsed at a BP garage (how appropriate) and took on board 4 mars bars and 750ml of lucozade sport. That was after 1500ml of high 5 fluids and loads of their gels!

Hopefully now my thigh muscles are strong enough to enable me to start jogging again.

However the thing that really spurred me on was the kind donations I have received including several from this board! Highly motivational - cheers.

Do try and plan your calorie intake a little better. No point hitting a wall when you could plan it a little better and save your health.

And my perineum still feels like it has been rubbed with sandpaper. Just don't ask how I know that...

And another freaky moment last night - I tried open water swimming for the first time. very very odd. luckily I have a season ticket to the lake where the race will be held so I can practice every Mon/FRi.

I only managed 50metres last night.
