Unlikely to happen. Stronger competition in the SPL? I would hope so, give the other teams a chance to strengthen and compete in Europe which means more money coming in.

I read at the weekend that the crowd at Celtic's match with Cally was higher than the other 20 games in the Scottish league put together.

It's bad enough with only two teams, but if Rangers drop out, Celtic will just look like a competitive dad stomping over his kids' sandcastles. Which is no good for Celtic, whatever the Tims think, being best of a load of tulipe.

So I'd propose that Celtic give Rangers a helping hand by paying their tax bill for them.

As Scotland's ranking goes down, you'd still have to qualify through the knock-outs like the champions of all the other small countries.

Celtic and Rangers can match the top english clubs in terms of gate money and merchandise.

The only difference is TV money. If someone was to form a breakaway league involving Celtic/Rangers and the top 10 say from the EPL, with it's own TV deal, the Scottish clubs could compete on a level financial playing field with the english clubs. The difference would be the sugar-daddy owned english clubs like Chelski or Man City.

In my opinion, the massively indebted English clubs are also heading for financial disaster in the next five years when Sky realise there is really no competition to their deal.

If you remember back to when TV money was a small percentage of a club's turnover, then Scottish teams competed just fine on a European level and the majority of successful English teams had a backbone of Scottish players. The only thing that changed that was TV money.
