Horrible thought but how many will make it through.

Which one is Wilmsy and which one is Sas? I can never tell them apart.

          We have our first ex-tit.

It's abandoned at the side - not sure why they don't remove it.

Just had a look and it's still there
Maybe the parents haven't twigged that it's dead yet?

According to on-duty tit-watch personnel, it was lively when it was first there - don't know whether it escaped or was evicted. But the parents ignored it and stood on it and I think it's definitely a goner now.

Hope they do 'remove' it - not nice seeing it there. Makes me glum.

Interesting map of Cuckoo migration here: BBC Nature - Tagged cuckoos complete migration and return to the UK

Amazing to think the birds in your garden might have been in the Congo weeks before.

Reading up about cuckoos, quite interesting that some species use a Mafia approach to make sure their chicks are brought up properly. If a cuckoo gets thrown out they go and beat up the host and destroy the nest. Sort of "hey would you mind looking after my egg for a while".
