I'd rather burn it than give it away for free.

Besides, if everyone burns wood, all the carbon the tree has kindly locked up from the atmosphere will be released, causing the Earth to warm and sea levels to rise and the Maldives will be gone and I'm planning on visiting there in the near future.

If you take a drive around Surrey (try the road to Dorking) you will see a huge amount of wood that's been cut up and left on the pavements to clear the roads after the last storm
Get yourself a reflective waistcoat and amber flashing light for your vehicle & I doubt anyone would challenge you
