It's really Mac users who are the dedicated fans and followers. Wintel users just use their computers to get the job done.

The job may well be but I've work to do and don't have time to faff around finding that DLL or restart 'sorry cannot close at this time' etc

Mac now is a PC with good marketing and OS that has got very poor compatibility with PC software.

If it wasn't for PCs (ie Intel processors, graphics card that were only sustained by PC gaming, chipsets etc) then Macs would not even be here.

              Could you define easy?
All windows needed was a wifi password typing in and then an outlook wizard running to point it to my email provider
If you include the install then the only thing I needed to set was my location for the keyboard setup

Yes I have tried Parallels and it's useful for taking a complete copy of my laptop as a VM while I transfer everything over, more of a peace of mind thing for when I'm away during the first few weeks rather than a need though. Everything I need to use for my day to day life seems to be available on the mac.

By easy to setup I mean that things just seem easier and far elss complex than on a pc, adding a printer, connecting to other pcs on the network etc. no faffing around, it just seems to do what I want it to.

Is that where multiple OS's fight it out for supremacy?

                  My money's on Microsoft.

Purely out of interest, what do people use a laptop for these days?

For anything work-related, then I need to be using something that runs Windows (which is why I use a Windows XP virtual machine for work). Outside of work, all I really use is email and internet which I could do with anything.
