    Lost 10 kg in 3 months by going to gym regularly.

      I lost 5kg from Jan to April then put it back on when I got injured. Its going to be tough to lose it over the next 7 weeks - after that I am going to have another go.

        round about the same as me then, <excuse> weather hasn't helped as i road bike<end of excuse> so am also looking forward to getting back on the bike, few events to train for, likely another 100KM ride so proper riding required not this in the gym spinning lark, do enjoy that though

            Have you tried the whiskey diet?

            I've lost three days already.

              8 months into my regime and at one point had lost 36 pounds. Have now settled at around 32 pounds less than I started and have held at that for a few months now. Not having too much trouble staying at my current weight so just have to keep going with it now.
              Would be easier if the weather picked up a bit mind!

                at 12 stone i didn't think i was fat but i knew i wasn't fit. after 9 months of 40 minute cross-training plus some weights per day and a completely revised diet i now know that i most certainly was fat and that i was very unfit. i'm at 10 and a half stone now and i'm staying there!

                  Big difference depending on if you are 5 foot or 7 feet tall.

                    Quite worrying really.
                    Yes and I think that's what's going to bankrupt a lot of health insurers and life insurers if they keep on using BMI as a measure of health. Perhaps it's handy to make a little division of people to illustrate the problem;
                    View of insurers;
                    - heavy people = fat people = not going to live very long
                    - light people = fit people = will live a long time
                    Reality;
                    - heavy people are sometimes fat, can be muscular, but not there's not much relation to life expectancy
                    - people who look very fat on the outside might actually be quite fit, muscular and healthy and have a normal life expectancy
                    - people who look thin might be fat on the inside, and that's the group that dies early; 'thin fatties'. Very few insurers have done the sums on this as they're only interested in BMI.

                      Well, I signed up for this when the thread was first posted but didn't do much. The past couple of weeks I've been out in the hills every couple of days gradually doing harder and longer walks with some people who are younger and fitter than me, helps to have someone pace you.

                      Did the most strenuous walk today and got back ahead of the others some of whom were complaining that they were tiring. So it seems the level of fitness is getting better quite quickly.

                      Two weeks away from doing the munroes again weather permitting but I prefer doing the hills in winter anyway so by that time I should be at my fighting weight and full fitness. At this rate I might even chuck the ciggies.
