The linked article, btw talks of a 50yr timeframe.
Actually Wikpedia took that from the IPCC report on climate impacts. So presumably you agree that this section from the IPCC report is complete bollox:

In the case of Tuvalu, this internal migration has brought almost half of the national population to Funafuti atoll, with negative environmental consequences, and the Government has indicated that there is also visual evidence of sea-level rise through increased erosion, flooding and salinisation (Connell, 2003). Connell suggests that, as a result, the global media have increasingly emphasised a doomsday scenario for Tuvalu, as a symbol of all threatened small island environments.

So it is a section on the negative effects of migration, for a multitude of reasons .... seems reasonable to me.
      ditto

Farbotko (2005) also indicates that Tuvalu is becoming prominent in connection with climate-change-related sea-level rise
You're quite right the migration has a multitude of reasons none of which are related to climate change or sea level rises, which is why one wonders why the IPCC are reporting on it.

Not due to sea level rises, there hasn't been any recorded in the Solomon Islands

These pacific atolls are the visible remains of extinct volcanoes. They eventually sink into the sea.
This is not a problem caused by rising sea levels, it people living on the margin.
If I wanted to get off a sinking atoll I would use any old excuse.

interesting, since this is dwarfed by the number of people killed in road traffic accidents, I propose that the UN swaps the climate change conferences for ones on road safety.

1.2 million killed each year in road traffic accidents

If we don't perhaps people will migrate.

There's nothing funny about the millions dying through lack of food, whilst the greenies want us to convert food into bio-fuel

I like this quote from a climategate e-mail from a climate scientist commenting on his colleague:

just read that Schellnhuber got an OBE!!!! I didn't know you got those for spouting
bullsh*t, but I guess that's how far standards have fallen. Pretty amazing...

It would be a thing of that past, except the greenies banned DTD. Another great success eh?
