Germany have done nothing more than say "we´re not coughing up" no more and no less. When the Euro was introduced it was not the lender of last resort. All Germany is doing is adhering to the rules everyone agreed to, no-one forced Greece into the Euro; it was the other way round, Greece massaged its figures and lied its way into the Euro, and no-one is forcing them to stay in; but if they and Italy do want to stay in, and pay their salaries and pensions, they should just keep to the rules. No-one is stopping them privatising all their state owned businesses and releasing billions which could easily be enough to kick start their own economies. Why can´t they raise their retirement age to 67? why does Greece have to have more doctors per head of population than any other OECD country? Ireland has already introduced it´s austerity measures and is growing faster than most other EU countries including Britain; why? because they´ve sold off more of their state owned enterprises and introduced measures to imprive their competitiveness.

The usual little Englander rubbish, short on objective analyisis and big on WW 2. I think they should stop feeding the British proletariat a constant diet of Dam Busters and the Battle of Britain, and try educating average "Joe" on basic economics and politics.

There is a war being fought in the currency markets. Merkel's call for unity is disguising the truth. Sovereignty and democratic ways are no more. Accept it. The ECB will be along in a minute to call all the shots. And they are above the law.

Pretty soon, all fiscal policy will be set by one power, and we the plebs will have to tow the line.

Haircuts affect hedge funds directly so Greece has taken a 50% haircut on it's pensions. The peasants will revolt as soon as this sinks in.

Italy has the 4th largest gold reserve in the world, expect them to be held to ransom before any serious handouts.
Knock first as I might be balancing my chakras.

Indeed they have. Lets remind ourselves exactly why that is.

The UK's extreme version of capitalism is the main problem. Or rather America's which we import. Regulated Northern Europe is a lot better, and the problems they do have are mostly fallout from the others. Our business is encouraged to behave irresponsibly, maximise profit, outsource, manipulate the government, media.
It's not lack of hard work.

How is the UK's implementation of capitalism "extreme"?
You won't be alerting anyone to anything with a mouthful of mixed seeds.

And this differs to the relationship between the city and government how?

The city have been in full control of the UK government for years already, little wonder our society is broken.

If you think it is easy to kickstart Greece'e non-existent economy you need lesons in basic economics.
BTW its obvious you don't have any substantial stash of Euros otherwise you would be cacking yourself.

The UK's income is dependent of private institutions gambling and betting, obsessing on short term profits for the the benefit of the few.

What would you call that, goodwill?
