No, you don't get it. If people want to be silent that's fine. Forcing everyone else to be silent to humour them, why? Rubbing my non-silence in their faces is not on, but if I choose to carry on working or having a chat quietly, that is my business.Originally posted by malvolio View PostDon't get it, do you? It's not about being silent. If you don't want to keep the silence for your own expression of respect and a moment of reflection, you could at least respect other people's desire to do so. It's not like 2 minutes is going to spoil your whole day - but you may well have spoiled someone else's.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

Silence requires everybody to participate. If you decide to "quietly have a chat" there is no silence, only the sound of your jibber jabber.Originally posted by d000hg View PostNo, you don't get it. There is no such thing as total silence, there will be cars outside and birds tweeting.Originally posted by doodab View PostSilence requires everybody to participate. If you decide to "quietly have a chat" there is no silence, only the sound of your jibber jabber.Comment

In a modern double glazed office you're unlikely to hear them. Someone blabbering away at the next desk is a different matter.Originally posted by russell View PostThere is no such thing as total silence, there will be cars outside and birds tweeting. While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. As I said, a bloody awful job. My OP is grammatically correct. Your edit is bollocks on several levels. Still, if it makes you happy, who am I to complain.Originally posted by russell View PostI can only work with whats in front of me
