Apparently, they got some tulip hot contractors in to work on this oneOriginally posted by VectraMan View PostThe Security Controller tried to chase it up about a month ago but all they'd tell him was that the application had been received. I'm the first to have applied with the newfangled electronic system, and as everybody knows government IT only succeeds in making everything take twice as long.

security cleared role
It's nothing about employment, or even project to a certain extent - it's whether you currently need access to secure documents / sites.
DV clearance will lapse quicker - sometimes to the point of it expiring the moment you leave that role.Comment

Apologies, yes that's true. However, I am leaving my role here, for another role, and they've said here, that they'll keep the clearance here for a year, and if a new role doesn't take it up within that year, it will lapseOriginally posted by TheFaQQer View Post

Recieved a phonecall today from my sponsor ....................
I had emailed and phoned last week to be kept up to date with any info for when the contract was starting, answers i got were very vauge, basically they company aren't set up for us to go in yet and when he knows more info he would let me know asap. Bear in mind my SC clearance is not through as of yet, it is still '' in progress ''
Phonecall i got this afternoon was from my sponser stating that the job i was offered, well the company i would be working for has decided they don't want the work done in Scotland anymore so are moving it down south. So after been offered the job and waiting the guts of 3 months for my Clearance i have been informed that there is not a job available anymore ..................... I am still quite shocked that this could / has happened
During the same conversation i was asked if i would still be interested in working for the company, im guessing outwith an SC role, and there ''may'' be opportunties and i would hear from him again next week.Comment

The role fell through. Why are you shocked that this could happen?Originally posted by harry85 View PostPhonecall i got this afternoon was from my sponser stating that the job i was offered, well the company i would be working for has decided they don't want the work done in Scotland anymore so are moving it down south. Disappointed, I could understand, as most of us have been when a role falls through that we wanted to do. However, if you are surprised that this happens, maybe contracting isn't for you.Comment

Blimey. They really cover all the bases at the Met Office don't they?Originally posted by Zoiderman View PostApologies, yes that's true. Having security checked you personally, I bet they used to really give the tea-trolley you pushed around the once-over every day too, eh?

You...
Have convictions for assault, DD and 5 breaches of the peace which doesn't paint you in the best of light
Can't understand the need for clarity and openness in a Security questionnaire and though guessing the answers was acceptable
Find it unbelievable you need to go through a number of checks for a security role
Ask if they are progressing your application even though they have done a credit check on you
You are shocked a role fell through
I would question your ability to work in an SC environment let alone pass the test. Not quite the ideal candidate for letting lose on the nations secrets.
Maybe the end result was better for us all. Take a permie job and don't let life worry you anymore.Last edited by northernladuk; 13 October 2011, 16:25. Reason: Is it possible to spell any worse than I do?'CUK forum personality of 2011 - Winner - Yes really!!!!
