Yes its for an IT job, its unbelievable the amount of checks that they do. I have worked in the place where i am applying for 7 years but not in an SC clearance capacity, would this help my case as they know my excellent work recored.
How do i go about contacting the DVA about my wrong dates and missed BOP offences. I have an online login but they dont have a contact us section etc. I am not in contact with my sponsor, will they hear the same time as me if i am succesful or not ?? I'm just unsure on everything as i have never had to get SC clearance for any of my previous jobs.
Thanks for your replys, take your advice on board.

What probably came up in your searches was the thread below which goes in to SC in depth and answers your question...

From their website Ministry of Defence | About Defence | What we do | Security and Intelligence | DBS National Security Vetting | How to Contact Us

          Hope this helps,

No it isn't. It is quite believeable bearing in mind the sensitivity of the data involved in some of these places.

That doesn't stand for squat. They are looking at your integrity and honesty and to see if you are trustworthy enough to be given access to secret data. How good your work record is is largely irrelevant.

Although you can get clearance with all manner of previous convictions they tend to be pretty good at letting some past depending on the offence and timescale. 30 mins is not that long and could be argued you haven't been caught again since rather than been reformed. I would also argue there are few other forms than this one that is is absolutely essential to get right and be honest. You haven't.

You still have a chance but it isn't going to be plain sailing for you. Cross your fingers IMO.

The DVA are looking to see if you are susceptible to manipulation by a (for want of a better word) spy.
Failure to disclose would give leverage against you. That is why it is important to honestly fill in the forms. Those convictions are unlikely to be held against you.

The issue I see for you is that you have fairly recent convictions which could lead them to decide you are unstable and have a propensity for breaking the law.
Why should they trust you to not break the official secrets act?
              Just saying like.

I could agree with you, but then we would both be wrong!

                To the OP.

You may receive a letter telling you that that the information you have provided doesn't correspond with what the Vetting Agency knows about you.

With the letter will be a section for you to complete giving you chance to supply the correct information.

Thanks for replys, just need to keep fingers crossed, just a waiting game now, thats been 6 weeks and counting, heard it can take anything between 30-80 days.
The financial check they do is just a credit check, is that correct ??

That's the least of your problems.

It appears from your questions that you don't seem to have read the form that you completed.

The form ?? I answered all questions in the DVA disclosure honestly, granted there was slight discrepancies with dates, I got correct year but wrong month.
I phoned to there helpdesk today but all I got was an automated message that they were inundated with high amount off calls.
Im actually reluctant to email them and say about the mixed up dates as this process has already taken so long that this might set it back even further. I just hope when they see the date mix ups they like someone on the forum said earlier give me the opportunity to put it right.
