According to my credit report the vetting agency did a credit check in august on me?? does this mean they are processing my application, who knows??

they were much more concerned with me having 4 mortgages on 4 houses, despite there being far more equity than debt, than anything I'd done before.

Not surprising, they probably had some intelligence about the upcoming GFC and knew once you were in negative equity it would be easier for an eastern european to convince you to sell state secrets for money.

It's kind of obvious Harry; they want to know who they are, so they can check they weren't criminals, spies, etc, etc...

Well, it was possibly a good job I sold 3 before the GFC.

I was SC cleared a number of years ago (4) and was wondering if this has now lapsed? Is the rule it lasts for 10 years but if you are away from a sponsor it dies after 1 year? Might have just made that up.

It lasts for 5 years now, but once you leave your employment, if it's not taken up within the year, it expires.

No they are not processing your application, they just decided to do a sweepstake in the office, your name came out and they decided to do a random credit check on you.
