    They look very cute.

As for eating rubbish ... when was the last time you went to McDonalds or had ready meal from supermarket? Maybe you don't visit them?

Well, if you lived (like them) in hostile environment and had kids (like them) you'd have to eat anything you can to survive, think about it in terms of 3rd world country - though, why am I saying this? If you are prepared to kill cute critter who is about to have babies then you ain't the kind of person who should have babies either.

This murder will give you very bad karma!

Plus my neighbours can see if I kill it and I know one of their brats will get the idea to report me to the RSPCA.

Though I know another one will be happy to help with it's disposal.

I could actually do the cheaper option, and wait until the entire family ods on the chemicals or suffocates on the plastic I keep in the shed. I found an asphyxiated one 2 years ago.
You sure it's not a rat?

      rather than a squirrel?

Sue, I'm sure you're right about them being vermin - but, are the little critters bothering you, in your shed? Battering one to death with a spade sounds messy, and slightly disturbing..
Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

They are vermin. If you've ever known anyone who's had a squizzer get in to the loft, you'll know what damage they can do. It can run into £1000s.

I shoot the little bastards quite regularly around here.

OP - get the spade out and kill the little ****er, or alternatively, get someone to shoot it for you.

Any neighbous complain, tell them to go **** themselves. And once they've done that, tell them to look up the DEFRA website.

A gorilla in your attic would do just as much damage - and it's a member of an endangered species. Likewise a dolphin, as it thrashes around seeking a large body of water to return to. Ergo, I don't think damage sustained to attics is a sufficient strong metric to positively determine verminess, even if it is £1000 worth. More likely this status is officially decided by a squirrel hating organisation, for reasons which they make up.

Depending your local council they may list squirrels as pests on their pest control pages.

There are no squirrel hating organisations though I found out this evening quite a few more people than I thought don't like greys.

Lots of things look very cute doesn't mean they are.

Oh and I'm not the one killing them.

Go and hug a tree Squrrels are not an endangered species for a start.

Squirrels are vermin. If you knew anything about countryside/farming/crops/trees you might know that. If the OP had said she had a family of rats in her shed, or if you had one in your shed, or under your house, would you invite them in for cheese and a cup of tea ? A squirrel is a rat that lives up trees.

So are you saying DEFRA are a 'squirrel hating organisation'.

What about the blacks, do you hate black squirrels too?
