Perhaps it's my impression but I think there is a lot of work in IT going around those days. Perhaps close to what it was before the 2000 boom (according to jobstats very close actually). However, by looking at the salaries advertised, companies are failing to recognise that when the market is strong they have to pay more. How long until they will start realising this?

Show me the money
I've seen much of the rest of the world. It is brutal and cruel and dark, Rome is the light. -

Companies can offer what they like and surely as supply follows demand, there are plenty of people accepting lower wages in order to pay the bills.Originally posted by Francko...companies are failing to recognise that when the market is strong they have to pay more.If you think my attitude stinks, you should smell my fingers.Comment

...naa the market I'm afraid just isn't what it was. It just isn't dire, you can pick up a job easy enough. Don't see why employers need to shove salaries up; I get the impression plenty of CV's land on the desk, when a job is advertised.I'm alright JackComment

Yes but that's the point. If it is so easy to pick up a job, it means that the market is strong. I am becoming an alcoholic because of all those leaving parties here. Yet, it's not only companies which fail to see the equation but also the people itself, perhaps because of the last 3-4 years of dire market, people are simply happy that they have a chance to change the job. But if 2+2=4 and not to 3, if there are more job offers than people, how long to wait until the salaries will skyrocket again?Originally posted by BlasterBates...naa the market I'm afraid just isn't what it was. Simple. There are less jobs than people for now. It's an employers market and will remain so for the forseeable future (except in certain specialist skills or perhaps in the City). Remember quite a few jobs on the websites don't exist.Originally posted by FranckoYes but that's the point. If it is so easy to pick up a job, it means that the market is strong. Although in later years population demographics are in the techies favour this will be offset by increased outsourcing.Hard Brexit now!

"techie's" or "techies' ". Here it's not clear from the context, although generally the singular is used by convention in this context. Eg "Let's look at this from the working man's point of view".population demographics are in the techies favour

The colonial marines are looking for a few good men right now. Guess that rules most posters here out then (except, possibly, Sandy).Comment
