    But I don't agree with you.

    Having separate taps is an inconvenience.

    Living in a damp place with inadequate heating is a health risk.

      Is this the Worst British invention? No? Then it does not belong to this thread!

        Housing for Victorian factory workers that wasn't built by the Quakers.

          Unless your basin is small, filling it to sufficient depth requires a large volume of water - it's fashionable to have very wide basins which are not efficient for actually filling with water. Also this scheme falls down on any kind of public sink... it won't get cleaned enough.

            AtW, I am very disappointed. I come here expecting a really good rant about the slam doors on older British trains and all I find is some whining about taps, which considering the huge selectiong of seperate AND mixer taps available in the average DIY store seems a rather weak claim. Tell us how the USSR had so much better train door fittings than the UK!

              +1

              We really want to hear about T-34 tank production at Stalin Ural Tank Factory No. 183.

                Spot on. I went to boarding school in the 1980s in an old country house. While there I read, among other books, 'A Day in the life of Ivan Denisovich' and kept thinking 'you lucky b@st@rd Russians'; at least they had fireplaces. Since then I have always lived in modern houses and hope that I always will.

                    WTF was wrong with the slam door system?

                    New trains have auto doors that close 30 seconds before the train leaves FFS

                    I have fond memories of coming into Cannon St station and seeing who could be the first off the moving train - much more efficient than all having to queue for only two access points

                    Like the Routemaster busses that you could hop onto at traffic lights it´s all become too regimentated and H&S bollox

                    <rant over>
                    How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think
